Di Barrong had a dream – to comfort children removed from their homes due to neglect, abuse, or illness. Her vision became reality when she founded Bags of Love, Inc., a 501(c) 3 charitable nonprofit whose sole mission is to provide hand-sewn bags containing a quilt, a “soft friend,” and age-appropriate personal care items and clothing to children in crisis.

With no permanent office space of its own, Bags of Love, Inc. gratefully rents space at Pearl Buck Center in Eugene. Bags of Love, Inc. operates solely through volunteer help and donations. Community support is needed – we hope you can help.

Items needed, in addition to financial donations:

  • Material, cotton batting, and sewing notions.
  • Socks, underwear, fire-retardant pajamas, and new or gently used boys and girls clothing (hats, gloves, blouses, shirts, pants) for ages Birth-10.
  • Books, small toys, color crayons / color books, and and age-appropriate personal care items, including diapers. (Please see "What's In A Bag" for a complete listing.)

Assistance needed:

  • Seamstresses to sew bags and/or quilts.
  • Volunteers to fill and deliver bags.
  • Board/Advisory Council members.
